Following the success of our 2022 Our World project, we are pleased to present our next devising project, inspired by the possibilities of artificial intelligence. We are inviting young people aged 10-15 years to immerse themselves in the exciting - if uncertain - world of AI as they unleash their creativity.

Led by a team of experienced creatives, this five-day project will allow participants to conceive and create their own contemporary opera. Using AI tools as a guide and a source of inspiration, they will collaborate to develop a story, craft original lyrics, compose music, choreograph dances and design staging.

Throughout the project, the young participants will explore how to effectively command the AI tools. They will learn to ask the right questions, phrase their queries thoughtfully, and carefully consider the generated ideas. Using their own judgment, they will select the responses that align with their artistic vision and discard those that don't. This project will encourage collaborative decision making, fast thinking, and critical problem solving. And most importantly creativity, giving the participants the confidence to ‘have a go’.

On the final day, the project will culminate in a fully staged production of their own original opera at The Grange Festival theatre. We hope that the project will not only provide an innovative creative arts opportunity but also illustrate that, if used imaginatively, AI will open up a whole new world of artistic expression.
