For outstanding young talent

The Grange Festival Prize

In 2022, we launched an annual summer prize to recognize outstanding young talent within our company. We award:

  • £7,500 for the most promising young performer
  • £5,000 for the most promising young technical member

Directors, the Chorus Master, and creative teams closely observe rehearsals and performances, submitting recommendations to Artistic Director Michael Chance and Director of Artistic Administration Scott Cooper. Similarly, the Production Manager and Director of Operations assess technical candidates.

This prize supports emerging artists facing financial challenges, especially after the hardships of Covid.

I am truly honoured to be a recipient of the Grange Festival Prize. This recognition has given me both confidence and inspiration as I continue to grow as an artist. I am incredibly grateful to the Grange Festival for their ongoing support and belief in my potential. The prize has been invaluable in helping me further my training and artistic development, particularly by providing funds for audition travel in both Europe and America, including recent trips to Houston Grand Opera, Dallas Opera, and Boston Lyric Opera. I’m excited to make my role debut as Flora in La Traviata at the Festival this summer and look forward to continuing to develop my craft with such an inspiring company. Thank you again to everyone at the Grange Festival for your support.

I am delighted to be a recipient of the Grange Festival Prize 2024. This award has been invaluable for my artistic development, enabling me to attend coachings and auditions internationally.

I am grateful for the supportive environment and warmth at The Grange Festival. It was a pleasure to be surrounded by brilliant colleagues and an inspiring creative team.

I am honoured to have received such a generous award. It especially means a lot to be able to recognise and celebrate the work which goes on backstage. This award has enabled me to invest in the tools I need for my work as a carpenter and scenic.
