2021 Festival - February Update

Festival Update |

February often contrives to be the cruellest month. And probably for that reason, it is also the moment that many of us plan for the summer. And on that subject, you are probably wondering if we will be putting on a Festival this summer.

The unequivocal answer is Yes. Definitely.

And as fully as we possibly can.

It will be a socially-distanced festival. Which means that our auditorium will be about half-full. And for all those of you who would love to see a live performance of one of our five different productions this summer whom we sadly cannot accommodate safely inside the theatre, we are working on a range of imaginative options.

I will write to you again soon to tell you exactly how this will work, but please know, for sure, that your visit to The Grange Festival will be worthwhile and memorable.

Flexibility is key. We have already planned for various options and can respond quickly to changes in Government rules. We are fortunate to have already held socially distanced recitals, masterclasses, and our pop up Pagliacci, and this makes us confident that our summer performances will run smoothly and safely for our audience and casts. Safety is always at the forefront of our planning and with this in mind we have recently undertaken work to improve the air extraction system in the theatre to further mitigate Covid risks. We are grateful to an anonymous donor for making this possible.

It may be some time before we can tell you the precise details of ticketing and dining this summer. Please continue to plan your visits and tell us the dates and tickets you think you will require. We will not ask for payment just yet, but this information from you will help us move quickly when the moment comes. Can I ask that if you are not a Festival Friend and think you could help us in this way please don’t hesitate – our Friends have never been more important to us.

So please ink in the day(s) on which you would like to come. Our Box Office is ready and waiting to hear from you.

We all so look forward to welcoming you to The Grange in just a few months’ time. It is an unadulterated joy to be announcing our 2021 Festival and be telling you that we are ‘open for business’.

Give me your hands, if we be friends,

And summer shall restore amends
