Join fellow Patrons of The Grange Festival for a special private evening at the National Gallery.
Led by National Gallery art historian Timothy Revell, this intimate, after-hours tour explores highlights from the Gallery's Renaissance and Baroque collections, tracing the development of European art from the 15th to the 17th centuries. Along the way we encounter works by Mantegna, Raphael, Titian, Rubens, Van Dyck and Velázquez. A specialist in Baroque painting, Timothy was awarded the prestigious Bader Prize in Art History for his doctoral research on Rubens.
He will also draw out a lovely connection between the two institutions: both bear the hand of the architect William Wilkins, who designed the National Gallery and gave The Grange its striking Greek Revival form — a fresh perspective on the architecture that sets the scene for our Festival each summer. Following the tour, we continue over drinks and nibbles at Supporters' House, the National Gallery's private members' club.
Tickets are £45 and includes a drinks reception. Booking opens for Patrons on 10 August at 10am.
This is a Patrons-only event, and tickets are limited. Patrons are entitled to book two ticketsper household.
