A Day at the Opera
Each evening, the park opens at 3pm and we encourage you to make the most of this time to immerse yourself fully in the idyllic atmosphere of The Grange.
To begin your evening why not enjoy drinks and canapés at The Portico Bar with its stunning lake views. If you have a sweeter tooth, perhaps a visit to The Winchester Hospice Tea Pavilion, with its selection of hot drinks and cake will be your first port of call.
The Portico Bar
Suspended over the monumental steps, The Portico Bar’s beautiful lake views make it the perfect place to begin your evening.
Soak up the atmosphere whilst sipping on some of our perfectly chilled English sparkling wine – The Grange CLASSIC and The Grange PINK both pair wonderfully with a plate of delicious canapés.
The Tea Pavilion
We are delighted to welcome back the team of volunteers from Winchester Hospice to run The Tea Pavilion for the 2023 Festival. Take a seat, relax and indulge in something sweet and delicious.
It is open from 3pm and remains open until the end of The Long Interval with no need to pre-book your tea, coffee or cake.
The Long Interval
During the 100 minute interval you will be able to enjoy your pre-booked dining and drinks. For Dinner in The House, head into the faded grandeur of the historic mansion and savour a three-course menu bursting with the best local, seasonal produce.
If you prefer to dine al fresco choose Supper in The Park, a sumptuous picnic supper waiting for you in your marquee or pavilion.
Alternatively, bring your own picnic and book seating in one of our private pavilions or the two marquees. We can also provide you with cutlery, crockery and glassware.
Dinner in The House
Dinner in the House brings you five options across three courses with a fully stocked and carefully curated wine list, designed to complement both the season and the menu.
Dinner in The House will be three courses including, bread and butter, Grange spring water, coffee, tea and fresh mint tea.
Supper in The Park
When you arrive at your tent you will find everything you need to begin your evening at The Grange. While you enjoy the first half of the performance, we will set out your picnic in gorgeous bowls and platters so that everything looks beautiful ready for the interval. As you return to the theatre for the second half of the performance, we will clear everything away ensuring a blissfully stress-free evening from start to finish.
Our spacious Private Pavilions are the perfect place for a group who would like their own space for the evening. They comfortably seat up to 16 guests and come furnished with a large dining table, a serving table, waxed cotton table cloths and enough chairs for your party. For larger groups the The Grange Pavilion which seats up to 30 is perfect for you.
We have a dedicated accesible terrace (John's Terrace) which has step-free access from the Theatre. Pavilions here can be booked in their entirety or, if you are a smaller party, we charge individual seats based on 2 or more parties sharing one space.
Let us take care of everything by adding Supper in The Park or if you would prefer to bring your own food, we can take care of the washing up by providing Cutlery, Crockery and Glassware
Book seats on a long table in one of our two marquees and you can expect a buzzing and lively atmosphere for the Long Interval. Each party is given a generous amount of space either side.
